For Nursing Students

The Student Program with a focus on Nursing

If you are an International student that wants to study nursing or an Internationally Trained Nurse looking to pursue your nursing career? Go to www.skilzcanada.com for our student bridging programs specifically for nurses and nursing students.

In Canada, the nursing profession is self-regulated – the provincial and territorial nursing bodies regulate the practice of nursing to best serve the interests of the public. So, you need to get a license for the province you are willing to work in.

The requirements for licensure are decided by the provincial bodies. To get the license, you will have to sit for the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination, which is a national level examination, except for Quebec, which has its own examination. The CNA administers the exam three times per year and can be taken as many times as a student wants.

After getting the license, students will be able to apply for nursing jobs in Canada.Internationally educated and experienced nurses who have already obtained a diploma and who practice outside Canada will need to take a Transition course or Bridging Program for registration in nursing.

These programs will provide you with the clinical experience and knowledge necessary to meet the "proof of practice requirements" established by regulatory bodies. Upon completion of the Transition program, a ‘course’ completion’ verification will be forwarded to the regulatory body as proof of practice and eligibility.
